“However bad life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. While there is life, there is hope.”
[Sthephen Hawking]
This work depicts a disease dubbed Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. I was inspired by the astrophysicist Stephen Hawking for the realization of the same. To touch on a subject as strong as this, I decided that I wanted to approach it in a simple and at the same time dramatic way, because I intend to sensitize the observer to this theme, because no matter how easy life seems to be, there will always be someone on the edge who not us.
This is a disease with which the carriers of it have a limited life span and who know that no matter how hard they fight, it will be very difficult to extend the days or months they have left, as there is still no cure for it. And this great inspiration, which was Stephen, proved that life is worth a lot, and that it is not because he has a disease that he lets himself be defined by this one, because he knew he had a lot to give and he did it.

This piece was manipulated and contorted in order to represent this disease. It is a textile sculpture that has gone through several stages: deconstruction and manipulation of fabrics, dyeing, needle felting and gluing. In turn, with a shiny and sticky texture, in order to allude to its weak, brittle and fragility. Color palette: skin tones, pink, lilac, beige and white. These colors convey feelings of pain, isolation, emptiness and lack of affection, help and care.
It is supported by a complex iron structure which refers to the dependence of several identities on the support.
An exemplifying object of this is porcelain, which I was inspired by, due to the fact that it is rigid, shiny and fragile.
