Identity. Living Body. The Skin-Self
The skin, as the outer covering of the body, is a living canvas, full of textures, reliefs and colors that distinguish us from each other, through identity, capturing beauty, fragility and mystery. It is through it that we experience touch, heat, cold and an infinity of tactile sensations, thus connecting us with the environment that surrounds us. In addition, there is a variety of bodies, marks and scars, and in this project I intend to highlight the unique narratives of a body, mine.
Here, I present a series of drawings representing a journey through my own naked body, in a mode of self-revelation, using repetition and detail as a focus. It is a bodily exposure that transforms into a bold exploration of self-representation, challenging boundaries of privacy and what is or is not acceptable, revealing deep layers of meaning. It inevitably becomes an internal manifestation to combat all those adjectives uttered by others,

referring to my body, that hurt and shaped me in adolescence. Toothpick, fork, skin and bones, pole, giraffe, skeleton and giant are some of them. Now, I face my old fears and frustrations, showing my explored body as a reflection of the inner self and reflecting on the diversity of beauty present in imperfections. The details present in the skin reveal a reflection on the existence and connection with the physical world, as well as a reflection on the structure, complexity and beauty of the living body. In this series, the viewer is confronted with nudity and the objective is to try to understand something that may not be noticeable right away, telling them a personal narrative as an artist. This is faced with an authentic construction and developed in a way as raw as the skin. Without disguises, without masks.
