GENETRIZ

2024

Latex on plaster

47,5 x 50 cm

Work acquired by the Collections Association / Berardo Collection.

Genetriz, a term that means generator or creator, is a bust that exposes, in a raw and sensorial way, the marks and imperfections of the female body to society. The work presents a robust torso, without head and arms, with a realistic texture that emphasizes every detail of the skin. Imperfections, scars and surface irregularities are highlighted, challenging conventional beauty norms and celebrating the authenticity and diversity of the body.
By revealing the body's fragility and materiality, it proposes a reflection on objectification and female subjectivity, inviting the observer to a visceral experience, objectification and female subjectivity, inviting the observer to a visceral experience, where the sensoriality of the material becomes a metaphor for lived experiences and stories inscribed on the skin.
With an approach that combines art and social criticism, it questions the dominant narratives about the body and offers a new perspective on beauty, identity and power, celebrating the creative and transformative capacity of this body with a profound meaning.
