The details of a place, somewhere in the district of Aveiro, representating a moment that tells many stories, now lost in the midst of time but immortalized in each brushstroke.
This series began by being designed in a macro and micro context through a single reference. Since the difference in size would be abysmal, the approach that the small-scale painting (2) obtained was a more detailed and focused language in a way that required the observer to get closer to see every detail. However, and to create another contrast beyond the size, the larger-scale painting (1) is presented with a blurring technique, making it necessary for the observer to move away from the painting for a complete and concrete reading of the objects that were also worked in great detail, now lost in the middle of the drag and time.
The relationship with the title (DES)Focus is due to this play of opposites with blur and detail, with distance and proximity, this duality of expressions and paths that lead us to the same destination. Words such as challenge, change, moments, opposites, memory, relief, focus, blur are represented. Words that everyone knows, but that at the same time are always capable of raising new questions. These are paintings that concentrate a lot of detail.
(DES)Focus II get the Honorable Mention Award at the 5th Gaia International Art Biennial exhibition.
