CATCH MY BETTER ANGLE

2022

Oil on wood

60 x 40 cm (each)

Between what is shown and what is hidden, there is beauty that has never been edited.

Catch My Better Angle is a raw and tender homage to the truth of the female body. In these two oil portraits, time is not just a passage — it is presence. Through the figure of the mother, a whole and multiple woman, these works reveal the feet as the foundations of existence: marked, calloused, imperfect — and, for that very reason, beautiful. They are the ones that bear the weight of decades, of falls, of assumed and imposed roles.
The work challenges the viewer's gaze, inverting angles and expectations.
Between light and fog, focus and blur, the body of a 60-year-old woman asserts itself against society's filters. It is not about hiding, but about showing — without makeup, without editing, without fear. A body with history, wrinkles, stretch marks, scars and a soul. A body that was a daughter, is a mother, is more than any name given to it.
These paintings do not beautify. They reveal. And in this revealing there is revolution. There is truth. And there is love.
